The Upbeat Beatles Diary - Summer 2007Hello again dear reader. Apologies for our not taking the time out lately to keep you abreast of our activities, but since returning from our triumphant Chinese trip we’ve been caught up in our usual whirl of gigs all over the country. At the time of writing, we are right in the middle of the wedding season and we’d like to say how grateful we are to all the happy couples that have booked the band this year and how much we’ve enjoyed each and every show we’ve had the pleasure to play so far. Special thanks to Steve White for helping out in Barnet (that’s a pretty neat thing that, the ambidextrous thing!) and to all at The Manor Pub in Southampton for making a night of it. We’d particularly like to thank Ross Pays for his hospitality in Cyprus and also to Andrew and the guys in ‘Hot Nuts’ for sorting the equipment out for us – we loved the Chas & Dave stuff! Viking Mick (our sound engineer and DJ) got us out of trouble once again when the generator packed up at the wedding of Tracey & Dean in Weston-super-Mare – thanks Mick. We’d especially like to thank Paul Moroney for all his valued help through May and June. Great gigs so far this summer have included Pontins in Lowestoft (hope to be back there again soon) and, of course, the Penwortham Town Carnival, which we first played at two years ago - it was even more fun this time. Particular thanks to Mark Walsh and the rest of the guys for looking after us while we were there. With gigs as far afield as Ireland, Italy and Gibraltar on the horizon, this summer is shaping up to be our busiest yet! It seems with all the renewed interest in ‘The Beatles’ following the recent release of the latest McCartney album – and the 40th anniversary of the release of the Sgt. Pepper and the album of cover versions by current bands – that demand is greater than ever for a cracking tribute to the Fab Four! Click here to return to the most recent diary entry. |
