The Upbeat Beatles Diary - September 2004

We'd like to open this entry into the diary by congratulating our sound guy, Tony, on his marriage to Dorothea - the boys would like to wish them every happiness together.

The last month has been as busy and exciting as ever! Did you see us on stage at Odsal Stadium [home to the Bradford Bulls rugby league team] on Sky Sports 1 on 13th August? It was only a fleeting glimpse, so you're forgiven if you missed it, but can we say a big thank you to the 12,000 strong crowd for giving us such a great reception [and also thanks to the team of cheerleaders who danced around us during our set, which made for a very pleasant evening!]

Other great gigs included the Exbury Club in Southampton and the Walker Cricket ground in Southgate. We've got a feeling that we'll be back to both of those! The Triumph Motorcycles corporate gig at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel in Edgware was a night to remember, and despite the torrential downpour of rain, we had a fantastic response from the crowd at the open air gig at St. Edmunds School in Hindhead.

At the time of writing, we're taking a weeks holiday before the next onslaught of gigs, which include the Lochgelly Centre Theatre on 24th September [Bank Street, Lochgelly, Fife, Scotland KY5 9RD - tickets are available from the theatre box office on 01592 418141 or through our website], a trip to New York in early October, two nights [12th and 13th November] at the Theatre On The Steps in Bridgnorth, Shropshire [tickets available from the theatre box office on 01746 763257 or through our website] as well as numerous other private and corporate gigs!

News just in is that Parlophone Records have booked the Upbeats to play at the end of the year, which we're sure you'll agree is a great commendation for any Beatles tribute band!
