The Upbeat Beatles Diary - November 2006Hi all! Thanks for taking the time to check out this page of the site. It's here to keep you up to date with what's been happening with the Upbeats over the last month or so. To see previous diary entries, click on the links at the bottom of this page, and don't forget that our comments page is now up and running, so we'd like to hear from you with your remarks and photos of recent shows! Hi Folks, Apologies for being a bit remiss in not keeping you all updated with a diary entry since June, but the fact that is the band have just been busy ‘taking care of business’. We can honestly say that we’ve received nothing short of a rapturous reception at every show we’ve played since the summer. Particular highlights have included Bibis Restaurant in Leeds (we’re playing there again on 14th March next year - why not come along and see us?), Priestfield Stadium in Gillingham, the Sandwich Festival, Clive Hawkins’ farewell party in Rotherfield (good luck ‘down under’ mate!), the Arts Festival at Folly Farm in Denbighshire, the Exchange Hall in Stamford, the fabulous party at Oran Mor in Glasgow organised by Gill Craig for her Dad’s 60th birthday and the surprise party at West Malling Golf Club organised by Keith Root for his wife’s 50th birthday. Thanks to all of you and the many others who we’ve had the pleasure of playing for since the last diary entry. It’s you who make each show a ‘night to remember’ for the four of us. We must also say thanks to Colin Davie, Machmoud and Lolita for looking after us so well during our recent trip to Bahrain to play at the Gulf Hotel. Hope to be back there soon! (Hi to Vance, Bruce, Daisy & Co – hope you’re enjoying the residency.) Special thanks to ‘Nordic’ Mick Neeve, our long-standing and ever reliable Sound Engineer, for keeping a cool head in a tricky situation – we couldn’t have done it without you, mate. We are also eternally grateful to the staff at The Liner Hotel in Liverpool for keeping the PA equipment that we left there safe until we had a chance to pick it up some weeks later! Shows already booked for next year include: Bahrain, Gibraltar, Italy, Ireland as well as numerous engagements covering the length and breadth of the UK. If any of you are reading this with a view to coming to see the band at a public venue, then I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. At the time of writing, all our future bookings are strictly private functions. However, keep checking the gig list on the website to find out when we’re playing a public show in your area (it’s updated regularly – at least once a fortnight.) You can also email us (see ‘Contact Us’ page) to enquire if we’re working in your area. Bye for now. Click here to return to the most recent diary entry. |
